Writely or wrongly
There's been quite a bit of noise about Google's Writely word processing software. But there's one rather serious problem with it: Its native format is HTML, which isn't a formatting markup language but a presentation markup language. If you upload a Word document, it's converted to HTML.
I don't think I need to explain further to the readers of this blog why that's a problem for a word processor.
